Been there quite a few times now. The food is absolutely delicious! This is our go-to Thai place in the area. Reasonably priced (lunch special is very good value), and customer service is great - one time my toddler spilled water on the floor, and they immediately cleaned it with a smile. I was very apologetic, but they were very nice about it. Highly recommend!

Tucked away in the quiet suburb of Mortdale, Sam Lor Thai delivers a refreshingly authentic Thai dining experience that goes well beyond the standard suburban takeaway. My recent visit left a lasting impression, thanks to both the quality of the food and the care evident in its preparation. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with rice — a dish often found in Thai menus, but rarely executed with this level of finesse. What stood out immediately was the sauce: instead of the overly sweet, gloopy glaze you might expect from many quick-serve Thai places, Sam Lors version was clearly homemade. It had a perfect balance of sweet, sour, and tangy notes, with a satisfying depth from the seasoning. You could tell it had been thoughtfully prepared with fresh ingredients, not poured from a bulk bottle. The chicken itself was another standout — generous portions of real chicken fillets, cooked just right. No gristle, no odd cuts, just clean, juicy, pan-seared goodness that paired beautifully with the fluffy jasmine rice. It’s a simple dish, but when every element is done right, it becomes a comforting, memorable meal. The service was warm and welcoming, with staff happy to provide recommendations and check in without being intrusive. The setting is casual but clean, and perfect for either a quick dine-in experience or a well-packed takeaway. Sam Lor Thai offers a genuine taste of Thailand without compromise. It’s clear that this is a business that takes pride in doing things properly — from the ingredients they use to the care in presentation and service. I will definitely be back to explore more of their menu, but the sweet and sour chicken alone was enough to earn my repeat visit.

Dined here many times which says a lot, considering I'm not too fond of Thai food. Sam Lor is a real exception to other Thai restaurants as it delivers authentic flavours and options to choose from. Stand outs, definitely the curry puffs and BBQ grilled salmon, (and for the boys) duck pancake and satay chicken skewers. Hospitable friendly customer service, stylish and clean restaurant. Highly recommend.

Located at 27 Morts Road, Mortdale, New South Wales, Australia ???????? This has only just opened in the last few weeks. Once you walk in , it’s very welcoming and beautifully designed. Very modern and more individually designed than the typical Thai ???????? restaurant. It’s a nice difference. The staff are very welcoming and courteous. I had Satay Chicken sticks for entree and the lunch special Chilli Basil Prawns for main. It was delicious . The only thing I would criticise was that I only got 4 prawns. Normally it’s 6 prawns, even on a lunch special. Also the toilet is very tucked away at the back of the restaurant behind the kitchen, you have to walk down a very narrow alley and there’s two steps into the alley, so it’s not wheelchair friendly. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Thumbs up

This is a great addition for Mortdale a really nice Thai restaurant. I love the decor. A great place to take people for lunch. The food is very nice. We got the chicken pad Thai, the chilli soft shell crab and a red curry. Everything was very tasty.

This is a cheap & cheerful local Thai. The service is friendly. The decor, with the movie posters & signs, is fresh & interesting. The food was your typical Thai menu. The basil & chili stir fry was the standout. It was all for less than $50 for 2.
